Prime Minister of Dominica receives the Ambassador of Cuba

Roseau, Dominica, December 28th 2021. The Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Honorable Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit, received today, December 28, 2021, the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba, Ulises Arranz Fernández. The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Government of that sister nation.

During the meeting, the Cuban Ambassador provided an explanation of the challenges Cuba faced during 2021, especially those caused by the US government’s blockade against Cuba and the effects produced by COVID-19. In addition, the Ambassador commented on the achievements made by Cuba in the battle against the pandemic, highlighting the obtaining of three Cuban vaccines and two more vaccines that are as candidates. Vaccines and compliance with protection protocols have made it possible to control the pandemic in Cuba.

The Prime Minister ratified the traditional position of the government and people of Dominica condemning the blockade, which considerably affects the lives of all Cubans, much more in times of pandemic in which there should be collaboration and solidarity. The Ambassador thanked the Prime Minister for supporting Cuba in the battle to end the blockade.

At the meeting, issues on the bilateral agenda of interest to both parties were discussed and the excellent state of relations between Cuba and Dominica was verified.
