The president of the National Assembly of People’s Power of the Republic of Cuba, Esteban Lazo Hernández, sent a letter of thanks, on behalf of the deputies of the Cuban parliament, to the president of the Dominican Parliament, Honorable Joseph Isaac. The letter acknowledges the approval of a Motion that condemns the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the US government against the Cuban people, as well as the inclusion of Cuba in the spurious and arbitrary list of countries that supposedly sponsor the terrorism.

Below the full text of the letter:

Honorable Joseph Isaac

President of Parliament

Dominica

Honorable Joseph Isaac:

With great pleasure we have known of the approval in the Parliament of Dominica a resolution condemning the blockade and the inclusion of Cuba in the list of countries sponsors of terrorism. On behalf of the deputies of the National Assembly of People’s Power and the people of Cuba in general, who is most affected by the blockade, I express our sincere thanks for this gesture of solidarity

Currently, the 242 measures of aggression promoted by the government of Donald Trump are in force and to them are added the actions originating of the reinclusion of Cuba in the spurious and arbitrary list of countries that supposedly sponsor terrorism. A total falsehood. It is our people who have been the victims of terrorism, organized, financed and executed in most cases from the USA.

On June 23, Cuba will submit the report “The need to end the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba” for the consideration of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). Since the beginning of the pandemic caused by COVID – 19, the blockade against our people has only intensified. It has limited or prevented us from accessing equipment, medicines, medical devices and technologies related to the diagnosis and treatment of the disease. As is well reflected in his statement, the blockade is inhuman, unjust and illegal and must stop.

I take this opportunity to reiterate the testimony of my highest esteem and consideration.

Fraternally

Esteban Lazo Hernández
