Parliamentary exchange between Cuba and Ireland celebrated.

Dublin, May 5, 2021. Members of the parliamentary friendship groups of Cuba and Ireland held a virtual meeting this afternoon which was opened by Sean O Fearghail, president of the Chamber of Deputies of Ireland, who conveyed a fraternal greeting to the people and Cuban parliamentarians. He recognized the strength of the Cuban health system and its success in facing the pandemic.

The delegations were headed by the respective Presidents of the Parliamentary Friendship Group, Deputy Thomas Pringle for the Irish side and Deputy Luis Morlote Rivas for the Cuban side, with the outstanding participation of Dr. Francisco Duran, director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health.

During the meeting, both delegations exchanged about the confrontation with the pandemic, the vaccination campaigns, the effects of the economic blockade on the Cuban people, the continuity of the international campaign that demands the US government to put an end to this cruel policy.

The Deputies also exchanged on the future parliamentary work to be deployed in the strengthening of bilateral relations and cooperation, pledging to soon hold other virtual bilateral meetings on specific matters such as health, climate change, scientific and cultural cooperation, among others. other

The Cuban counterpart ratified its gratitude to the Irish Deputies for the dissimilar actions undertaken in the parliamentary framework to end the blockade, as well as the notable support offered to the nomination of the Henry Reeve brigade for the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize.
