Havana, 19 December 2021. Cuban health authorities reported on Sunday that 84.7 percent of the Cuban population has received the complete three-dose scheme of the locally developed vaccines against Covid-19, while 825,831 people have already been administered the booster shot.

According to the latest report from the Public Health Ministry (MINSAP), 9,478,586 Cubans have received the vaccination scheme with the Soberana 02, Soberana Plus and Abdala vaccines.

At least one dose has been administered to 10,299,822 people from a total population of more than 11,150,000, who also includes those vaccinated with Soberana Plus as a booster.

The second dose has been administered to 9,281,573 people and the third dose to 8,884,924, according to the report.

Overall numbers on the progress of the vaccination against Covid-19, gathered from University of Oxford’s statistical portal, Our World in Data, reflect that Cuba ranks in second place in terms of proportion of immunized people, only surpassed by the United Arab Emirates. In third place is Chile, followed by Portugal in the fourth position in the world.
