National Rebelliousness Day was celebrated in Canada.

Ottawa, July 26, 2021 – This Monday, the Cuban Embassy in Canada celebrated National Rebelliousness Day with friends of solidarity from the capital region.

Present at the event were representatives of organizations such as Ottawa Cuba Connections, Alba Social Movements-Ottawa Chapter, the Outaouais-Cuba Friendship Association, the Cubans Association of Ottawa-Gatineau, and the Communist Party of Canada, and the Marxist-Leninist Communist Party.

On behalf of the Cuban diplomatic staff in Canada, Ambassador Josefina Vidal thanked the solidarity movement for its strong support to Cuba and the Cuban people, very valuable and appreciated when the country faces great challenges due to the combined negative effects of the pandemic and the U.S. blockade, tightened to unprecedented levels even during the COVID-19 health emergency. She denounced the opportunistic use of this situation by the U.S. government to, with the support of its economic asphyxiation measures and a fierce campaign of disinformation and manipulation of the Cuban reality, try to provoke instability and a social explosion in order to justify an intervention.

Referring to the lessons of the assault on the Moncada Barracks, she recalled that this important event in Cuba’s history taught us to turn setbacks into victories and expressed total confidence that Cuba will overcome the current challenges and, as always, will triumph.

The 68th anniversary of Moncada Day, as it is known in Canada, was also celebrated by solidarity members and Cubans living in several cities such as Victoria, Vancouver, Nanaimo, Calgary, Winnipeg, Toronto, and Montreal.
