Jamaica’s Minister of Education praises Cuban cooperation in the sector

Kingston, Jamaica, 19 March 2021. The Honourable Fayval Williams, Minister of Education, Youth and Information of Jamaica, praised the cooperation that Cuba has provided to this country in the education sector for more than twenty years, during a virtual meeting she held with the Ambassador of Cuba, H.E Mrs. Inés Fors Fernández.

The Jamaican minister reviewed the main milestones associated with the work of Cuban teachers, who have contributed to education in thousands of schools in Jamaica.

Currently, the contingent of Cuban teachers is made up of 83 teachers who teach about 36,000 Jamaican children and youths in almost all of the provinces that make up the territory of the Caribbean Island.

Cooperation between Cuba and Jamaica in the education sector began in 1997.
