Jamaica’s Foreign Minister bids farewell to Cuban Ambassador, upon the latter’s completion of her tour of duty

Kingston, Jamaica, 30 June, 2021. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica, Senator Kamina Johnson-Smith received this morning at the Ministry’s headquarters the Cuban Ambassador to Jamaica, Mrs. Inés Fors Fernández, who completed almost four years of diplomatic mission in the Caribbean nation.

Johnson-Smith commended the solidarity of the Greatest Island in the Antilles and the important contribution of Cuba to Jamaica in the fields of health and education. Likewise, she referred to the effective and exemplary way in which Cuba has developed several vaccine candidates to fight COVID-19.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Caribbean nation also referred to the permanent support of her country for the international claim in favour of the lifting of the US blockade against Cuba.

For her part, the Cuban diplomat thanked the Foreign Minister for the support received in all these years of diplomatic work in Jamaica and expressed her confidence in the expansion and deepening of relations between Cuba and Jamaica.
