Greek friends with their heart for Cuba.

Athens. The Cuban embassy in Athens was visited by the supportive friend Nikos Ragkousis, to deliver a sculptural work of solidarity with Cuba dedicated to Cuban doctors. The work was done by retired mechanical engineer Dimitris Gavalas, who was inspired by the solidarity of Cuban doctors around the world to do his work.
Mr. Ragkousis, is from the Greek island of Paros, like Mr. Gavalas. Ragkousis maintains a local newspaper called Foni tis Parou (Voice of Paros) that has been operating for 77 years, which is also currently in digital format.
The Cuban ambassador in Athens, Zelmys Maria Dominguez Cortina, received the sculptural piece on behalf of the Cuban people, which will be in the embassy as a symbol of friendship between Cuba and Greece. The piece of art consists of a beautiful marble stone that represents the island of Cuba, with two golden ships that symbolize Cuban doctors around the world carrying their solidarity light.
The diplomat thanked the Greek friends for their gesture and explained, at the request of Mr. Ragkousis, about the current situation in Cuba and the effects of the criminal economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States against Cuba.
Mr. Ragkousis reaffirmed his solidarity with the Caribbean island, his condemnation of the blockade and his interest in continuing his solidarity with the Cuban people, whom he admires as an example of resistance against imperialism, as a hope for socialism.
