Executive Director of the Ministry of Industrialization and Commerce meets with the Cuban Ambassador.

Namibia, August 19th, 2021- Sikongo Haihambo, Executive Director of the Ministry of Industrialization and Trade of Namibia, held a productive working meeting with Sidenio Acosta Aday, Ambassador of Cuba to this African country.

Also present were the officials of the Cuban diplomatic mission Juan Carlos Oliva Núñez and Aldo Luis Fuentes Acosta, as well as other directors of the Namibian Ministry.

At the meeting, both representatives agreed on the excellent state of the historic bilateral relations. Likewise, they identified projects for their strengthening in the areas of industrialization and trade.

On his side, Ambassador Acosta explained the epidemiological situation in Cuba and the efforts of his government and people to control the incidence of COVID-19. Similarly, he reported on the development of two Cuban vaccines against this disease and of 3 other candidates.

The Cuban diplomat also referred to the international campaign against Cuba, orchestrated, promoted and financed by the United States Government. He condemned the attacks against his country and the intensification of the US economic, commercial and financial blockade against the Caribbean island.

Executive Director Haihambo reaffirmed his country’s solidarity towards Cuba. He thanked, in turn, the Cuban cooperation with Namibia, initiated during his country’s liberation struggle from the South African Apartheid regime.

Cuba and Namibia established official bilateral relations on March 21st, 1990, the same day that the African country proclaimed its independence. Political ties have always been at a very high level. It is in the interest of both governments to raise trade and cooperation relations to the level of political relations.
