Helsinki, March 29th.- This morning, an exchange was held between Mr. Vaidotas Karvelis, Counselor of the Department of Latin America, Asia, Africa and the Pacific of the Lithuanian Chancellery and the Charge d’Affaires ai of Cuba in this capital, Mr. Víctor M. Rodríguez Etcheverry.
During the meeting, the parties noted the positive development of political ties between the two countries, as well as the prospects for development in different spheres. Rodríguez Etcheverry updated his counterpart on the situation of COVID-19 in the Greater Antilles and took the opportunity to present on the development of Cuban vaccine candidates, which are expected to contribute to immunizing the island’s population by the end of 2021.
The coronavirus situation prevents, for the moment, a closer exchange in the political, economic-commercial, academic and tourist fields. However, there is the political will to continue dialogue on issues of mutual interest and to revitalize bilateral ties once the pandemic in the world ends.
