Paris, June 7, 2021.- Deputy Prime Minister Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz arrived in Paris, France this Monday to carry out a work program that includes meetings with French government and business authorities.
The objective of the Cuban leader’s visit is to strengthen existing relations between the two nations.
On the first day of activities, the Deputy Prime Minister held a fruitful meeting with Emmanuel Bonne, Diplomatic Advisor to the President of the French Republic.
The exchange allowed the counterpart to update on the impact of the economic, commercial and financial blockade applied by the United States against Cuba, intensified to unprecedented levels during the years of Donald Trump’s mandate.
The parties confirmed the positive state of bilateral relations and ratified their will and interest in deepening them. The usefulness and validity of the bilateral Economic Agenda adopted in 2016 and the mechanism of the Economic – Trade Commission that meets annually to review the progress of trade and cooperation links between both nations was highlighted.
During the meeting, Cabrisas conveyed the greetings of President Miguel DÃaz-Canel Bermúdez to the President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron.
The Diplomatic Counselor reiterated the position of the French Government of rejection of the economic, commercial and financial blockade that the United States maintains against Cuba.
The meeting was attended by Ms. Cécile Ondoa Abeng, Counselor for Latin America and the Caribbean in the Presidency of the Republic, and the Ambassador of Cuba in France, Elio RodrÃguez Perdomo.
