We have learned with indignation that a small group of MEPs who respond to Washington’s agenda, have managed to include in the next Plenary Assembly of the European Parliament to be held on June 8, a point related to the Political Situation and Human Rights in Cuba.
They want a resolution to be adopted against our country, distorting the reality that we live in; They are desperately trying to break the ties that bind us to the European Union and stop the implementation of the Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement that is currently being developed on the basis of mutual respect and equality between our States.
Such actions do not surprise us, they are typical of the double standards that motivate them, of the double standards that characterize them.
They appear to be concerned about the exercise of human rights in Cuba, a free, independent, sovereign, democratic country of social justice and human solidarity, where the people decide their destinies and where, following an inviolable principle of Marti, contained in the Constitution, the law The first of the Republic is the cult of Cubans to the full dignity of man.
It is curious that, so restless and restless about human rights in Cuba, they have not convened the European Parliament to analyze the main violation of human rights suffered by the Cuban people, which is a genocidal blockade imposed on our country for 62 years and intensified to qualitatively incredible limits in the midst of a pandemic and a global economic crisis; a blockade that also affects the citizens of Europe, especially their business people.
They also act with total insensitivity to flagrant violations of these rights committed in the United States and other countries in the world, including Europe itself, in which manifestations of police brutality, the application of discriminatory policies against migrants have been exacerbated in the last year. , speeches that promote hatred and supremacist ideas, or violations of freedom of the press and expression, as well as manifestations of racism, xenophobia and other forms of intolerance.
We denounce this maneuver by those who do not represent all the members of the European Parliament. These politicized exercises respond to demands from outside interests that try to compromise the independent action of the European Union in foreign policy.
We respectfully call on MEPs not to play the game of such infamy, to stop this maneuver.
