Cubans in Norway take part in XV ECRE

Oslo, Norway.- Cubans living in Norway gathered at the headquarters of the Embassy of Cuba, to take part in a new edition of their regional meetings, together with other compatriots living in Europe. The aim of the event being to coordinate activities in support of their homeland.

The XV Meeting of Cubans Living in Europe (ECRE), organized from France, was held by videoconference in the context of Covid-19 and concluded with a final declaration, which included the condemnation of the economic, commercial and financial siege imposed by Washington on the Caribbean country for more than 60 years.

In the welcoming remarks, the Ambassador of Cuba to France, Elio Rodriguez, thanked on behalf of the government of the Caribbean nation, the solidarity of the compatriots abroad. Meanwhile, from his official Twitter account, the foreign minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, sent a greeting to the 15th. Meeting of Cubans Living in the so-called old continent, and reaffirmed the gratitude for the support provided in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Cubans living in Europe summoned to the ECRE, a forum that had precisely this capital as the host of the first edition in 2006, condemned the maneuvers and the media machinery put in practice to distort and try to destroy the Revolution.

We reaffirm the love and respect for our homeland and the unequivocal commitment to defend its sovereignty and independence, as well as to act in favor of a change in United States policy, they stressed.

Participants in the virtual forum from various European countries highlighted the international solidarity displayed by the island in the Covid-19 scenario and restated their support for the global proposal to award the Nobel Peace Prize to the Henry Reeve medical brigades.

During the day, the interventions and debates were focused on the defense of the sovereignty of Cuba, the rejection of the blockade imposed by Washington, the work in social networks and the contribution of the new generations and descendants.
