Cuban Foreign Minister cataloges the vote against blockade as a great victory

United Nations, June 23, 2021.- The Cuban Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez, cataloged this Wednesday the vote in the United Nations General Assembly against the United States blockade as a great victory for the island’s people.
In his Twitter account, he highlighted that 184 countries spoke out in favor of the elimination of this economic siege, which he described as a triumph of justice and truth.
“Once again, from the United Nations #ElMundoDiceNo to the aggression and the unsuccessful US policies against Cuba,” the Foreign Minister wrote on the social network.
The UN General Assembly today adopted a new resolution, which calls for the end of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by Washington on the Caribbean nation for six decades.
There were three abstentions in the vote, from Colombia, Ukraine and Brazil, and only the United States and Israel voted against the lifting of the siege, who were isolated before the claim of the majority of the international community. For the twenty-ninth time since 1992, the countries of the world categorically demanded in the main body of debate of the United Nations the elimination of this policy.
More than 15 nations and international organizations such as the Non-Aligned Movement, the Group of 77 plus China and the Caribbean Community denounced the damage caused by this mechanism and demanded its end.
Diplomats and senior representatives from different countries condemned the increase in hostility and the unilateral coercive measures that the United States Government promoted against Cuba in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic.
