Cuban Foreign Minister appreciated the support of the African Union VS. the US blockade

The Foreign Minister of the Republic of Cuba, H.E. Mr. Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla sent a letter of appreciation to the Chairperson of teh Africa Union Commission, H.E. Mr. Moussa Faki Mahamat for the support of the regional organization to Cuba in the fight against the blockade imposed by the government of the United States of America.

The 34 Assembly of the organization celebrated recently, approved a Resolution to call the US to put an end the economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba.

The African countries have been showing also support to this claim in the United Nations General Assembly, the Non Align Movement and other international fora.

Cuba and Africa have a long history of relations since the arrival of the African slaves to the Caribben. Africa is part of the Cuban nationhood and the Africans and their descendants have ben contributing to the struggles against colonialism and neocolonialism in Cuba, and the building of the independent and sovereign nation of today.

The Cubans supported the national liberation struggles of many countries in Africa, the end of the apartheid regime and the cooperation initiatives in various sectors including the education of thousands African youth.

In the international arena, Cuba has been supporting the legitimate aspirations of Africa in favour of a a more just and equitable international economic order, against racism and discrimination, to reform the UN Security Council, on poverty alleviation and other initiatives.
