Cuban film “Innocence” premieres at the Ottawa Latin American Film Festival.

Ottawa, May 17, 2021 – The Cuban film “Innocence”, by director Alejandro Gil, represented Cuba at the 24th edition of the Ottawa Latin American Film Festival, organized by the Canadian Film Institute and the Latin American Embassies (GRULA) in Canada.

The festival, which took place between May 7 and 14, was held for the first time virtually through the Eventive platform and included the participation of 14 other Latin American countries: Chile, Uruguay, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Dominican Republic, Bolivia, Honduras, Paraguay, Ecuador, Peru, Mexico and Argentina.

The presentation of the Cuban film was dedicated to the 62nd anniversary of the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry. Prior to the premiere, Josefina Vidal, Ambassador of Cuba to Canada, addressed a message to the audience, and at the end of the screening, the film’s director, Alejandro Gil, spoke in a recorded message about the production of the feature film.

Innocence was favourably received by the audience, registering 136 views across Canada, which were mostly located in Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia, Nova Scotia y Alberta.
