Cuban Embassy in Liberia begins celebrating “Africa Day”.

Monrovia, May 10, 2021 – Invited by the Mayor of Monrovia Honorable Jefferson Tamba Koijee, and in the framework of the celebration of the Day on the occasion of “Africa Day”, the Cuban head of mission Mercedes L. Martinez Herrera visited the City Hall of Monrovia.

The visit was propitious for a tour of the handicraft exhibition that was taking place in the main hall of the headquarters of the local administration of the capital.

This handicraft exhibition was an example of the African cultural influence in our continent, a very important component in the identity formation of the peoples that are part of this area, mainly from the historical, religious and cultural point of view.

Crafts, works of art, textiles and costumes typical of the African country were exhibited. Among the articles coming from the African culture, part of the symbols of social distinction are also bracelets, necklaces, anklets or belts.

The Cuban diplomat thanked the mayor of Monrovia and his staff for the kind attention given during her visit, and for the opportunity to transmit to her country the diversity of African art, which is as varied as the cultures that populate our continent.
