Cuban diplomats hold a meeting with the Executive Director of the Ministry of Sports, Youth and National Service.

Namibia, February 26th, 2021- Cuban diplomats Aldo Fuentes and Juan Carlos Oliva, Second Secretary and Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Cuban Embassy in Namibia respectively, held a productive meeting with Audrin Mathe, executive director of the Ministry of Sports, Youth and National Service of this African country.

The meeting addressed issues of mutual interest to strengthen relations between both nations, in the areas of attention of that local Ministry.

The Executive Director positively appreciated Cuban cooperation with Namibia in the sports sector. In this sense, he highlighted the valuable contribution of Cuba in the development of various Namibian athletes in dissimilar disciplines.

For their part, Cuban diplomats explained the incidence of Covid-19 in the Caribbean country and the effects caused to the Cuban economy, in a context marked by the tightening of the US blockade. They also expressed the gratitude of the Cuban people to Namibia, for the unconditional support against this genocidal policy of the US government.

With the support of Cuban coaches, several Namibian athletes have achieved excellent results regionally and internationally. Several medals stand out in Paralympic sport, especially in Athletics.

The meeting was held in the atmosphere of brotherhood that characterizes the bilateral relations between Cuba and Namibia. Other directors of the Ministry of Sports, Youth and National Service also attended.
