Cuban Ambassador to Sri Lanka visits the Coconut Research Institute.

Sri Lanka, November 5, 2021, The Cuban Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Andrés Marcelo González Garrido, paid a visit to the headquarters of the Sri Lanka Coconut Research Institute (CRISL), where he was received by its President Dr. Saranga Alahapperuma.

During the visit, an extensive tour of the center’s facilities was made, which was established in 1929 and is considered the first institution in the world dedicated to coconut research.

Cuba and Sri Lanka maintain exchange relations in the development of coconut since 2012, this cooperation establishes the exchange of experiences in the development of this crop.

Sri Lanka ranks fourth in the world’s coconut production.
