Cuban Ambassador participates in the presentation of the documentary “Cuba´s Life Task”

London, February 6, 2022- The Cuban Ambassador in the United Kingdom, Bárbara Montalvo Álvarez, attended last Friday night the presentation of the documentary “Cuba´s Life Task”, combating climate change”, at the Marchmont Center in London , under the auspices of the Revolutionary Communist Group (GCR) and the solidarity group Rock Around The Blockade (RATB).

The documentary, directed by Daniesky Acosta, a member of the “Cubans in the UK” association, and co-produced by Helen Yaffe, a professor at the University of Glasgow, narrates the efforts made by the government of the Antillean country to curb climate change, whose effects are already they are visible in extreme weather events such as hurricanes, droughts, and rising sea levels. It also shows how Cuba is using environmental science, natural solutions and community participation in its long-term plan for climate change adaptation and mitigation.

At the end of the audiovisual, the Ambassador of Cuba thanked the invitation to the first presentation of the documentary in London and recognized the permanent solidarity of the GCR and RATB with the island. She recalled the negative effects of the blockade on Cuba’s efforts for sustainable development and on confronting climate change.

“Task Life of Cuba, combating climate change” had its premiere at the University of Glasgow collaterally to the Conference of the Parties (COP26). The Cuban CITMA minister, Elba Rosa Pérez Montoya,attended that meeting. who headed the Cuban delegation to COP26.
