Havana, May 27, 2021. The Vice Minister of Foreign Relations of the Republic of Cuba, Anayansi Rodríguez Camejo participated today in the XXVI Ordinary Meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Association of Caribbean States (AEC), whose sessions were held in virtual. During the event, the Cuban Vice Foreign Minister reaffirmed that Cuba will continue to bet decisively for solidarity, cooperation and integration to strengthen the fraternal ties between the nations of the Caribbean Basin. The meeting focused its attention on tourism, trade and transportation in the region, areas hard hit by the Covid-19 pandemic. Issues of vital importance related to education, confrontation and risk reduction of natural disasters, and the preservation of the Caribbean Sea as a common heritage were also addressed. The occasion was propitious to evaluate the actions oriented to face the challenges derived from the multisectoral impact of the Pandemic in its member states. During the years 2020 and 2021, Cuban medical brigades traveled to 17 ACS member states and five of their Associate Members, with the aim of starting cooperation or strengthening the existing one. Four other member states of the organization receive Cuban cooperation in the health sector. The ACS has issued repeated pronouncements and exhortations to put an end to the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States against Cuba. (CubaMINREX)
