VARADERO, Matanzas-The upcoming 2022 International Tourism Fair is sure to add merit to Cuba as a tourist destination, in an industry that continues to feel the weight of the pandemic at the global level, and will consolidate the prestige the island has earned in providing a healthy, safe environment.
Ivis Fernández Peña, Ministry of Tourism representative in Matanzas, announced that, for the occasion, the renowned resort town of Varadero, venue of the event, is showing signs of recovery in its hotel and extra-hotel facilities and has designed new products to attract visitors.
At this time, she reported, there are 43 hotels in operation, certified as providing more hygienic, safe and responsible tourism and committed to offering excellent service, with improved internet accessibility and following environmentally friendly practices.
She insisted that the challenge for staff is to continue improving quality in an environment marked by the impact of the blockade and efforts by enemies of the Revolution to discredit Cuban tourism.
The 40th International Tourism Fair, scheduled to take place May 3-7, will feature Russia as the guest country of honor and focus on beach resort vacations.
