Cuba congratulates South Sudan on the occasion of its National Day

Addis Ababa, July 9, 2021. South Sudan, the youngest nation in Africa, is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its independence today. On that occasion, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez sent a message of congratulations to the President of the Republic of South Sudan, H. E. Mr. Salva Kiir Mayardit, ratifying the will to continue developing the historic relations of friendship that unite both peoples.

The cooperation relations between Cuba and South Sudan have been marked, among other actions, by the contribution of our country to the training of hundreds of South Sudanese, as part of the scholarship programs that Cuba offers to the African continent.

On its part, South Sudan has invariably expressed its support for Cuba against the blockade, during the voting of Cuban resolutions against this criminal United States policy, in the United Nations General Assembly, in a clear gesture of solidarity between the two countries.

The Cuban Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla also conveyed congratulations to his counterpart, the South Sudanese Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Mrs. Beatrice Wani-Noah.
