New York, 29 October 2021. Ambassador Pedro L. Pedroso Cuesta, Permanent Representative of Cuba to the United Nations, held a fraternal and emotional meeting with representatives of the Friends of Puerto Rico Initiative (FoPRI), which brings together Puerto Ricans of different political and social tendencies, but all committed to Puerto Rico’s right to self-determination.
The meeting, which was attended by Oscar López Rivera, a leader of the Puerto Rican people’s struggle for independence, was an opportunity for FoPRI members to thank the Cuban Representative and Cuba for their continued support for the cause of Puerto Rico’s independence.
Pedroso Cuesta is currently the Vice-Chair of the United Nations Decolonization Committee, which on 44 occasions has submitted the question of Puerto Rico for the consideration of Member States.
For the Cuban side were also present Ambassador Yusnier Romero Puentes, Deputy Permanent Representative and other members of the Permanent Mission of Cuba to the international organization.
