Congratulations Gambia on the 57th anniversary of the Independence

Maria Ines Alvarez Garay (*)

57 years after the achievement of Gambia’s Independence, on February 18th, 1965, the Cuban Medical Brigade in the Gambia reaffirms the will of the Cuban government and people to make the legacy of the historical leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, a reality in his concept of Revolution, when he stated:

“Revolution is… to fight for our dreams of justice for Cuba and for the world, which is the basis of our patriotism, our socialism and our internationalism.”

Dear Gambia, Cuba will always be in solidarity with your people, despite the blockade, despite the unjust campaigns of the Washington government to discredit our medical brigades, despite COVID-19. Here we are and we will always be with you, as long as you allow us.

You have welcomed us as your children and as such we owe you loyalty and altruism.

We congratulate your people and your government on Independence Day and we promise to continue working with dedication, professionalism and love, providing health, aleviating suffering and saving lives.

We are all proud to be Cubans when we receive the warmth and affection of this West African land that, together with us, fights every day for a healthy Africa and a better and fairer world for all.

Thank you, the Gambia, for so much gratitude. We will always be by your side. Happy Independence Day.
