Association of Friendship with Cuba in Namibia condemns on television the attacks against the Island.

Namibia, July 19th, 2021- Cecilia Muzile, general secretary of the Namibia -Cuba Friendship Association (NAMCUFA), participated in the television program “Good Morning Namibia”, where she condemned the vandalism that occurred in Cuba and the orchestrated international campaign against the Island.

Muzile, a survivor of the Cassinga Massacre and a Cuban graduate, explained to Namibian viewers the aggression suffered by the Caribbean country, with the aim of destroying the Cuban Revolution. She blamed the United States Government for promoting a social outbreak in Cuba. She warned that a military invasion of Cuba would be a serious violation of the Charter and principles of the United Nations and of international law.

Likewise, the Secretary General highlighted the achievements made by Cuba in the fight against the pandemic, as well as the solidarity of the island nation with other countries of the world, through the Henry Reeve Medical Contingent. Muzile described as hypocritical the criticism of the Cuban government for its management in the face of Covid-19, when it is the only Latin American country that develops its own vaccines against the disease. Similarly, she highlighted the numbers of sick, recovered and deceased in Cuba, which are lower than other similar nations in population or average monetary income, despite the current incidence of the Delta variant of the virus.

She stressed that these important achievements were accomplished under a brutal reinforcement of the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States, which has affected Cuba for more than 60 years. She denounced the more than 240 new measures imposed by former President Donald Trump against Cuba, some of them applied in the midst of the pandemic, and the maintenance of them by the current US administration.

Cecilia Muzile recalled the recent declaration of support for Cuba made by NANCUFA and reiterated the call to Namibian civil society to stand by the Cuban people in the struggle to maintain their sovereignty and independence. In this sense, she announced that activities to support the Cuban Revolution will be organized in the upcoming days.
