Ambassador of Cuba visits the Minister of Youth and Sports of Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka October 28, 2021, The Minister of Youth and Sports of Sri Lanka, Namal Rajapaksa, received the Ambassador of Cuba Andrés Marcelo González Garrido, who paid him a courtesy visit.
In the fraternal meeting, the also member of the Sri Lankan Parliament discussed with the Cuban representative the possible ways to increase the sports cooperation , especially through the training of high-performance athletes in Cuba as well as through sports coaches from the island in Sri lanka.
There is a tradition of sports cooperation between Sri Lanka and Cuba, a significant number of Sri Lankan students have graduated in Cuba as Bachelors in Physical Culture and Cuban coaches have served in Sri Lanka helping to improve the performances of Sri Lankan athletes.
Also present at the interview were Major General Palitha Fernando, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Athletics Commission and I.M. Ranasinghe, graduated in Cuba and specialist in Athletics from Kelaniya University.
