ALBA-TCP meets to discuss women and gender issues

Havana, April 7, 2021.- The Meeting of the High Authorities related to women’s and gender issues of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples’ Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), held a session of virtual way on the afternoon of this Wednesday April 7th . The meeting ratified the need to revitalize the mandate of the Heads of State and Government to create a Women’s Committee of ALBA-TCP and the willingness to continue working on compliance with the agreements adopted on gender issues. The dynamism and effectiveness of the coordination work being carried out by the Executive Secretariat of ALBA-TCP was recognized, as well as the role of women in confronting the COVID-19 pandemic. During the meeting, the legacy of Vilma Espín Guillois was remembered, on the occasion of the celebration this day of the 91st anniversary of her birth. Today Vilma constitutes an example of the struggle for the rights and inclusion of women in our towns. The Cuban delegation was headed by Teresa Amarelle Boué, secretary general of the Federation of Cuban Women. Other Ministers, Vice Ministers and authorities of the alliance participated.
