Canberra, 10 January 2022. – The Embassy of Cuba in Australia together with the branch in the capital of the Australia-Cuba Friendship Association celebrated the 63rd Anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution in Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve, located on the fringe of Namadgi National Park.
In her words to the participants, the charge d’affaires a.i. of the Cuban Mission, Yudith Sánchez Espinosa highlighted the historical legacy of the Cuban Revolution, as she affirmed that the beautiful work founded by Fidel and Raúl is still standing and in constant battle. “Cuba is not alone in this incessant fight for our sovereignty and against the US blockade, we have the valuable support of friends of solidarity from Australia and from many parts of the world,” stressed the Cuban diplomat.
On his part, the president of the Association in Canberra, Rob Parnell, expressed his admiration for the social feats achieved by the Revolution in these 63 years, despite the unjust policy of blockade and sanctions of the United States against the Cuban people. He also ratified the Association’s commitment to continue strengthening friendly ties between the two countries.
The extensive tour carried out by the participants in this commemorative activity in “Tidbinbilla” Nature Reserve, allowed them to add more kilometres to the goal of the Initiative “From Australia to Cuba with Love”. This campaign, launched on January 1 by the Cuba-Australia Friendship Association in Brisbane, promotes the “Bridges of Love” from the country of Oceania to the Caribbean island, and plans a collective challenge to cover the distance of 14,886 km, with the purpose to give greater visibility and notoriety to the international cause to end the US blockade against Cuba.
