Minister Ng is strengthening the long-standing Canada-India relationship, which is built upon a foundation of people-to-people ties. Since Minister Ng’s successful visit to India in March, during which she and Minister Goyal launched negotiations toward a Canada-India early progress trade agreement, Minister Ng has met with Minister Goyal 5 times to discuss the negotiations. This in-person meeting is an important milestone in the negotiations, as the ministers discussed ways to move forward on key issues. The ministers reaffirmed the 2 countries’ goal of maintaining momentum in the fourth round of negotiations, which is scheduled to take place at the end of September.
