As a friend and ally of Israel and a friend to the Palestinian people, Canada remains strongly committed to a two-state solution, including the creation of a Palestinian state living side-by-side in peace and security with Israel, and a comprehensive, just and lasting peace. The Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today issued the following statement: “Canada welcomes the announcement made today by Israel, the United Arab Emirates and the United States that Israel and the UAE will begin normalizing relations. We see this as a historic and positive step toward peace and security in the region. “Canada will continue to work toward facilitating peace in the Middle East and upholding the rules-based international order.”
