Canada reaffirms ongoing support for Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons

Canada will continue to promote concrete efforts, such as empowerment of youth advocates and more meaningful engagement of women in disarmament decision-making, to help achieve a world free of nuclear weapons. On behalf of the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rob Oliphant, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister, today reaffirmed Canada’s commitment to nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament during a virtual meeting of foreign ministers of the Stockholm Initiative for Nuclear Disarmament. Hosted by Germany and Sweden, participants at today’s meeting advocated for pragmatic measures that would advance nuclear disarmament under the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons Treaty (NPT).  June 9, 2020 – Ottawa, Ontario – Global Affairs Canada
