The Africa Adaptation Acceleration Program (AAAP) is working to accelerate and increase climate adaptation action across the entire African continent and is open to projects from all African countries according to demand. Since its launch in 2021, the AAAP has implemented development activities in 19 countries, including Côte d’Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, Seychelles, Somalia, South Sudan and Gambia, among others. It focuses on areas where investments in adaptation and resilience-building yield high economic dividends and can accelerate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. The interventions of the AAAP span a multitude of sectors with 4 priority areas: food security, resilient infrastructure, youth entrepreneurship and job creation, and innovative climate adaptation finance.

Global Center on Adaptation
The Climate Adaptation and Protected Areas initiative works with project beneficiaries, including conservation partners, local communities, national and local authorities and traditionally marginalized groups—particularly women—to integrate nature-based climate solutions into protected areas management and conservation interventions. The initiative aims to increase the resilience, when faced with current and future climate changes, of ecosystems and people of all genders and social groups in the following countries: Zambia, Uganda, Fiji, Belize, Namibia, Angola and Zimbabwe.
Her Future, Her Choice: Strengthening Young Women’s Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights

The project aims to improve and promote the sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) of women and girls in Ethiopia, Malawi, Mozambique and Zambia. This funding, which is in addition to the original -million in funding announced for this project in 2019, supports work in neglected areas, namely safe abortion and post-abortion care, comprehensive sexuality education, contraception care and SRHR advocacy. It also allows the project to expand activities and build on achievements to date, including raising awareness of and attitudes toward these elements of SRHR and expanding access to and quality of abortion, post-abortion and contraception services.
