The Permanent Secretary at the Ministry in charge of Foreign Affairs participates in the National Day of the Arab Republic of Egypt

Mr. Ferdinand BASHIKAKO seized the opportunity to indicate that the relations between Burundi and Egypt have the merit of leading them towards multifaceted and multidimensional advances in bilateral relations. He also reminded that, at the regional and international level, Burundi and Egypt have common interests and challenges both in the context of the defense of the principles to which they have freely adhered and in the context of the implementation of their commitments.

In his speech, Mr. Ferdinand BASHIKAKO uttered the best congratulations of the Government of Burundi and the Burundian people for this anniversary celebration which, according to him, is Egypt’s entry into an era of freedom and dignity.
 With regard to these relations between Burundi and Egypt, Mr. Ferdinand BASHIKAKO highlighted six Cooperation Agreements signed during the official visit to Cairo of the President of the Republic of Burundi His Excellency Evariste NDAYISHIMIYE in march 2021. As part of the implementation of some of these Agreements, nationals of these two countries holding diplomatic, special and service passports are now exempt from visa requirements. The Permanent Secretary ended his speech by wishing a very happy celebration to Egyptian nationals living in Burundi.
On july 6, 2022, the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Burundi celebrated its 70th anniversary of the Egyptian revolution. In these ceremonies, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Ferdinand BASHIKAKO.
