The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation presents the Ministry’s achievements for the first half of 2023-2024

Those include, among others, the agreements signed between Burundi and Russia relating to the use of nuclear energy, justice and the civil service; a modern mobile laboratory, a headquarters agreement between Burundi and COMESA relating to the hosting in Burundi of all COMESA meetings, the workshops and the activities of which Burundi will chair. Concerning the political-diplomatic gains, Ambassador Albert SHINGIRO focused on the agreements, the memoranda of understanding and the amendments which have been signed and ratified and others which On Wednesday January 31, 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation, His Excellency Ambassador Albert SHINGIRO, presented the achievements of the Ministry for the first half of 2023-2024 with the aim of showing the national community and international the daily work of the Ministry, its strengths, its challenges and its future prospects. In his speech, His Excellency Ambassador Albert SHINGIRO presented the flagship activities of the Ministry in five areas, namely: the political-diplomatic gains, promotion of the multilateral cooperation, the strengthening of the bilateral cooperation, the pursuit of implementation of the new policy based on economic diplomacy, the supervision of the diaspora and the promotion of the migrant employment as well as some actions carried out within the central administration. Burundi then exchanged with the countries which form the Center for Research and Documentation on Oral Traditions and African Languages (CERDOTOLA) and agreed that its headquarters will be located in Bujumbura, and that has already been done since August 10 2023, which has a positive impact on the economy of Burundi. In addition, Burundi gained two new friendly relations from the countries like El Salvador (from Latin America) and Trinidad and Tobago (from the Caribbean), the countries more distant but beneficial to the development of Burundi.
