Burundian Diaspora in Uganda visits Burundians residing in Lwero district

On 24th April 2021, members of the Diaspora paid a visit to the Burundians who reside in the district of Lwero and who are grouped within the association called “Association of Uganda Barundi Cultural and Reconciliation Development in Uganda (ABCREDU) ”.

During this visit, the Burundians grouped within the ABCREDU association appreciated the work of the Burundian Diaspora and the desire of the Government of Burundi to always listen to the grievances of Burundians living in the country as well as those of the diaspora. These Burundians, grouped within the ABCREDU association, reaffirmed their willingness to work in synergy with other Burundians of the diaspora in order to develop themselves and develop their mother country.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Burundi in Kampala H.E Epiphanie KABUSHEMEYE NTAMWANA for her part appreciated the contributions of the Burundian Diaspora especially the Burundians of Lwero who joined together in a self-development association and encouraged them to send their children at school. She added that for those who will face the lack of means to send their descendants to school, the Embassy of the Republic of Burundi in Kampala will help by coming to their aid.

The President of the Burundian Diaspora in Uganda Dr Pierre NSENGIYUMVA, for his part, provided advice to the Burundian residing in Lwero. He reminded them that they must keep Burundian customs and mores and teach Kirundi to their children. He invited them to always work in association and to go and carry out their development projects in Burundi. The President of the Burundian Diaspora in Uganda Dr Pierre NSENGIYUMVA did not fail to remind them to have exemplary behavior in their country of residence, as part of honoring their mother country.

The President of the Burundian Diaspora in Uganda Dr Pierre NSENGIYUMVA closed his remarks by inviting the Burundians of Lwero to participate in the activities of the Diaspora Week, 2021 edition scheduled for July 2021.
