Burundi Ambassador in Washington DC presents the figurative copies of his letters of credence to the State Department

On Wednesday, January 17, 2024, the Ambassador of Burundi in Washington DC His Excellency Mr. Jean Bosco BAREGE presented to the Acting Chief of Protocol, the figurative copies of his letters of credence to the Department State. The ceremony was followed by a joyful introductory conversation on a series of issues relating to the diplomacy and relations between those two brotherly countries.
His Excellency Ambassador Jean Bosco was delighted with that historic event in his career. He informed the Acting Head of Protocol that the Government of Burundi wishes to strengthen the bilateral relations with the United States. The Acting Head of Protocol congratulated the Ambassador of Burundi in Washington and highly appreciated Burundi’s commitment to the strengthening relations with the United States. He also wished His Excellency Jean Bosco BAREGE a good stay and a good job. He indicated that the United States is ready to work within the framework of strengthening the relations.
The Embassy of the Republic of Burundi in Washington DC was created with the aim of strengthening and coordinating the political, economic, military, social and cultural relations between Burundi and the United States.
Note that Burundi established the diplomatic relations with the United States in 1962. Since that period, the two countries have maintained the good diplomatic relations. The cooperation between the two countries deepened further when in 2007 Burundi committed to its troops to the African Union in peacekeeping mission in Somalia (AMISOM) to fight against the terrorist group Al Shabab. That decision was motivated by the firm conviction of Burundi and the United States that the world peace can only prevail in a world free of terrorism.
