Minister Teodora Genchovska received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan

,, We appreciate the existing active political dialogue with Azerbaijan, which reflects the common desire to strenghten bilateral relations. “Azerbaijan is a priority partner for our country in the South Caucasus region”, said Minister Genchovska. She added that our relations are developing in an atmosphere of friendship and have been raised to a strategic level with the Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership between Bulgaria and Azerbaijan signed in 2015 by the Presidents of the two countries.
Among the topics of conversation during the meeting were the common desire to intensify the strategic partnership between Bulgaria and Azerbaijan, as well as opportunities to strenghten bilateral economic relations in the fields of energy, energy supply and other key areas of mutual interest.
After the joint press conference, Minister Genchovska opened a photo exhibition dedicated to the 30th anniversary of bilateral relations with Azerbaijan and Bulgaria. It was organized by the State Cultural Institute and the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Bulgaria.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs Teodora Genchovska received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ceyhun Bayramov, who is visiting Bulgaria.
Other topics of discussion included European and regional security, including Russia’s military aggression in Ukraine.
,, Russia ‘s aggression in Ukraine has created a new geostrategic reality, threatening the security not only of the region but of Europe as a whole. “We are counting on Azerbaijan’s contribution to the stability of energy supplies, which will also contribute to strengthening European and Euro-Atlantic security”, said Teodora Genchovska.
The visit was on the occasion of 30 years of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Azerbaijan, established on June 5, 1992.
