Deputy Minister Velislava Petrova received copies of letters of credence from the Ambassador of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria Mrs. Baya Bensmail

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Velislava Petrova received copies of the letters of credence of the newly appointed Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria to the Republic of Bulgaria Mrs. Baya Bensmail.

During the meeting, cooperation between the two countries in areas of mutual interest, including in the fields of trade and economic exchange, science, education and culture, was discussed.

“Bulgaria attaches great importance to the relations with the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria. Since the struggle of the Algerian people for national liberation so far, our bilateral relations are built on a solid foundation, built on mutually beneficial friendship and mutual assistance”, Deputy Minister Petrova said.

The Bulgarian side noted that the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Algeria in October this year provides a good opportunity for the further development of bilateral relations and political dialogue.

“Algeria is our traditional and important economic partner in the North African region”, Velislava Petrova stressed. She added that more concrete steps are needed to hold summits in the future, which would contribute to the expansion of bilateral trade and economic cooperation yielding a great potential.
