Currently, six Bulgarian citizens are awaiting evacuation from Kabul

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues to monitor with concern the development of the situation in Afghanistan, including the withdrawal of Bulgarian and other foreign and local citizens from the country.

Currently, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has information about six Bulgarian citizens working for international organizations in Kabul. One of them contacted today the Situation Center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he is also in contact with our embassy in Pakistan. The Ministry maintains constant contact with the six compatriots, monitoring the procedure for their evacuation and is ready to provide the necessary assistance.

At this stage, five other Bulgarian citizens have already managed to evacuate from Kabul to Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

At the same time, according to our embassy in Qatar, an evacuation plane from Kabul landed in the capital Doha today, and 8 Bulgarian citizens who worked in Afghanistan for the EU Permanent Mission arrived on it. Our embassy contacted them by phone, making sure they were well and did not need consular assistance. They are expected to return to Bulgaria soon.

Foreign Ministry explores various possibilities for withdrawal of Bulgarian citizens from Afghanistan, including through international evacuation flights.
