Bulgaria took part in the plenary meeting of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance

The Forum took place on 22 and 23 June 2022 in Stockholm in the framework of the Swedish Presidency of the Organisation. The Bulgarian delegation was led by the Bulgarian Ambassador to Sweden Ivan Pavlov.
Within the framework of the plenary session, a review was also made of the progress of the member states on the national commitments undertaken by them within the framework of the International Forum in Malmö in October 2021 in the field of combating anti-Semitism and commemorating the Holocaust. Bulgaria informs about the progress in the preparation of the first National Action Plan for the fight against anti-Semitism and the safeguarding of the Jewish cultural heritage.
The meeting adopted important decisions on the topics on the IHRA agenda, including the Organization’s budget for the period 2021-2023. New Zealand was granted “observer country” status and Israel’s candidature for the rotating chairmanship of the Organisation in 2025 was approved. A special focus of the discussions was the IHRA’s response to Russia’s military invasion of Ukraine, and in particular to Russia’s attempts to distort the history of the Holocaust to justify its indefensible military aggression against the Ukrainian people.
Bulgaria took part in the first attended plenary meeting of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic.
