Bulgaria donated 258,570 COVID-19 vaccines to Bosnia and Herzegovina

Today, January 31, 2022, with the assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Health and our Embassy in Sarajevo, Bulgaria donated to Bosnia and Herzegovina 258,570 vaccines against COVID-19. With this act, our country not only demonstrates its responsible attitude to the fight against the pandemic, but also sends a message that Bosnia and Herzegovina has a faithful friend and partner in the face of the Bulgarian state in efforts to overcome the spread of the virus and economic recovery. The handover ceremony was attended by the Secretaries General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The donation is a continuation of Bulgaria’s consistent policy, which began on the day Bosnia and Herzegovina was recognized as an independent state 30 years ago and has continued to support its prosperity and stability, European and Euro-Atlantic integration. The strengthening of bilateral relations in all areas of mutual interest creates favorable conditions for getting to know the peoples of the two countries, which have been historically connected for centuries, as well as an opportunity to upgrade political dialogue at the highest level. In gratitude that 30 years ago Bulgaria was the first country to recognize the independence of Bosnia and Herzegovina, tonight the National Library in Sarajevo will be illuminated with the colors of the Bulgarian national flag.
