Тhe Day of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius, of the Bulgarian Alphabet, education and culture, and of Slavic literature was celebrated at St. Joseph’s University (USJ) in Beirut

On May 27, 2022, the Day of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius, of the Bulgarian Alphabet, education and culture, and of Slavic literature was celebrated at St. Joseph’s University (USJ) in Beirut, Lebanon. The event took place in a festive atmosphere, a documentary “The Road to Light” was screened, provided  by the State Cultural Institute in partnership with the National Research Program “Cultural Heritage, National Memory and Social Development” at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. The children from the Bulgarian Sunday school “Ivan Vazov” in Beirut recited poems from Bulgarian classics, and the famous singer of Bulgarian origin Ms. Sofi Zein played a piece of music on the instrument qanun. On the occasion of the holiday Ambassador Belev greeted the guests, emphasizing the historical significance of the work of the Holy brothers Cyril and Methodius and their students. The official part of the event ended with a cocktail party attended by the Mayor of Beirut, EU ambassadors and representatives of the diplomatic corps and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants of Lebanon, members of the Association of Lebanese Graduates in Bulgaria, representatives of the Bulgarian community, professors and students from USJ and embassy staff.
