H. E. Minister of Foreign Affairs meets with Minister of Foreign Affairs of State of Israel in Rome
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani met today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel, H.E. Yair Lapid, as part of the visit of the Minister to the Italian Republic to participate in the Ministerial Meeting of the Global Coalition to Defeat Daesh.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs congratulated His Excellency Mr. Yair Lapid on assuming the position of Foreign Minister of the State of Israel. He reviewed aspects of joint cooperation and ways to develop bilateral ties to meet common aspirations within the framework of the Declaration of Support for Peace signed between the two countries, stressing the importance of supporting efforts aimed at achieving peace in the region, and fulfilling the aspirations of its people for security, stability, in addition to holding talks in order to solve the Palestinian issue in accordance with the two-state solution and the resolutions of international legitimacy.
For his part, His Excellency Minister Lapid stressed the importance of further developing bilateral relations in the benefit of both countries and people. He also affirmed the State of Israel’s keenness to develop joint cooperation with the Kingdom of Bahrain in various fields.
The two sides discussed the political and security developments in the region, in addition to issues of common interest at the regional and international levels, including the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, and efforts being made to de-escalate and maintain the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
The meeting was attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, H.E. Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Italian Republic, H.E. Dr. Nasser Mohammed Al-Balushi, and the delegation accompanying the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
