H.E. Minister of Foreign Affairs: “Future Bet” programme an important mechanism for implementing royal directives about youth participation in shaping Bahraini future
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, affirmed the importance of advancing Bahraini youth and providing the needed environment for them to excel and achieve their aspirations, thus striving to highlight the Kingdom of Bahrain’s distinguished position in all regional and international forums.
This comes in implementation of the royal directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the relentless efforts of the esteemed government headed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
This came in a speech delivered by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, where he participated virtually in the open meeting held within the second phase of the “Future Bet” Programme, organised by BIPD for the 18-29 age group, featuring online training sessions and workshops on various issues that involve enriching discussions by a number of senior officials and decision makers.
During the session, the Minister of Foreign Affairs reviewed the pillars of Bahraini foreign policy, which is based on promoting the values of peace and spreading its culture in the region and the world, consolidating the values of human rights and highlighting the most important Bahraini achievements in this field, whether legislative or practices, as well as achieving sustainable development and desired prosperity as an essential part of the Kingdom’s foreign policy, and highlighting the Kingdom as an economic gateway to the GCC.
The Minister also emphasized the vision of the Kingdom of Bahrain on foreign policy, which stems from the vision of His Majesty the King, that is based on adherence to the rules of international law and various international treaties and charters, building friendly relations with various countries of the world, and emphasizing the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of countries, working to resolve disputes by peaceful means, strengthening good-neighbourly relations in the region and the world, defending just causes, foremost of which is the Palestinian cause, assisting the international community in combating terrorism and its financing, and combating terrorism and extremism.
Dr. Al Zayani stressed the great role that the citizen, especially the youth, can play in enhancing the positive image of the Kingdom of Bahrain so that they can be representatives of the country at home and abroad through highlighting the values of Bahraini society represented in peaceful coexistence, acceptance of others, mutual respect and harmony amongst the society from different races, religions and sects.
The Minister concluded the session by reviewing the most important values and qualities that a Bahraini diplomat must possess, namely adherence to the values of loyalty, honesty, transparency and good reputation, and the importance of enhancing their knowledge and familiarity with various developmental, economic, health, social and cultural sectors, and keenness to work in a team spirit.
Following the Minister’s concluding remarks, a discussion was held with the youth participating in the meeting, who submitted a number of inquiries and suggestions that focused on the role played by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and training and qualification mechanisms for the youth wishing to learn more about political and diplomatic work in the Kingdom.
