Foreign Minster holds formal discussions with German counterpart

Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany, H.E. Mr. Heiko Maas, today held a discussion session in Berlin, as part of the official visit by the Foreign Minister to friendly Germany.

During the meeting, the Foreign Minister expressed his delight to visit Germany, noting the solid friendly relations between the two countries, which are based on international cooperation and mutual respect. He also noted the development of bilateral cooperation at all levels, within the framework of the strong relationship that unites the two countries, and their mutual interest to develop bilateral relations in the benefit of their common interest.

The Foreign Minister pointed to the importance of the opportunities to advance the course of joint cooperation between the two countries in the political, economic and investment fields, and to increase trade exchange between them in the service of common interests, in addition to the need to promote joint political coordination and exchange views on issues and challenges facing the Middle East in a manner that promotes security, stability and peace in the region, expressing that he looks forward to further developing relations of joint cooperation between the two countries.

For his part, Foreign Minister Maas welcomed the official visit to Germany by Dr. Al-Zayani, hailing the development and growth of the friendly relations between the two countries, as well as its mutual respect, and the sincere desire to promote it in various fields.

The Federal Foreign Minister also affirmed Germany’s interest to continue cooperation, consultation and joint coordination with Bahrain in various fields, and its desire to further develop joint cooperation.

The two sides also discussed areas of joint cooperation and ways to promote them for the benefit of the two friendly countries and people, in addition to studying the developments of the situation and the political and security challenges facing the Middle East, as well as issues of common interest regionally and internationally.

The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain in Berlin, Ambassador Abdullah Abdullatif Abdullah, and the accompanying delegation of the Foreign Minister. As for the German side, it was attended by the Directorate‑General of the Affairs of the Near and Middle East, Africa and Latin America, Dr. Philipp Ackermann, and a number of senior officials at the Federal Foreign Office.
