Bahrain renews its call on the international community to mobilize all efforts to achieve Mideast security, stability, and peace
The Kingdom of Bahrain affirmed its total rejection of the continued cycle of violence and dangerous escalation between the Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip and the Israeli forces because it realizes that the victims of this military escalation are innocent civilians, civilian facilities and houses, which should be categorically rejected by the international community in general.
The Ambassador Jamal Faris Al-Ruwaie, the permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations in New York, said during the United Nations General Assembly meeting on the situation in the Middle East and the Palestine issue, held today, Thursday, May 20, 2021 AD, at the United Nations headquarters in New York.
He said the Kingdom of Bahrain calls for concerted international efforts to issue a decisive resolution calling for a comprehensive ceasefire that ends the ongoing escalation, stops the bloodshed of innocent civilians, and spares the region threats to security and regional peace.
He affirmed in this context the Kingdom of Bahrain’s support for the initiative put forward by the brotherly Arab Republic of Egypt to a truce between the Palestinians and the Israelis, in preparation for ceasefire between the two sides.
He expressed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s support for the extraordinary meeting of the United Nations General Assembly, and it calls on the international organization, from this platform, to assume its legal, moral, and humanitarian responsibility to ensure that all countries abide by the UN resolutions related to the Middle East and Palestinian issues, and work to protect regional peace and security.
He also clarified that the Kingdom of Bahrain has expressed its strong condemnation of the Israeli attacks on worshipers in Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the attempts of Israeli settlers to displace Palestinians from their homes in Shaikh Jarrah neighborhood of the occupied Jerusalem, which contradicts international legitimacy’s decisions and international law, and contradicts the values of tolerance, coexistence, and peace.
Unfortunately, he said, this has led to a dangerous escalation that resulted in hundreds of deaths and injuries, and risks to undermine the chances of reviving the peace process in the occupied territories.
The Ambassador pointed out that it is the duty of the Israeli government to fully respect international law, fulfill its international obligations as the occupying power in the occupied Palestinian territories, respect religious freedoms in the holy sites and not to change the legal and historical status of Jerusalem as well as respect the city’s sanctity for Muslims and Christians.
He said that the Kingdom of Bahrain calls on the United Nations General Assembly to continue its efforts to revive the peace process in the Middle East in order to achieve a just, lasting comprehensive peace in the region, which cannot be achieved without establishing the right of the Palestinian people on their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the two-state solution, the Arab Peace Initiative and relevant international resolutions.
His Excellency renewed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s call to the international community to harness all international efforts to achieve security, stability and peace in this sensitive region and spare its people grave dangers.
