Assistant Foreign Minister participates in meetings of Arab League 155th regular session at ministerial level


The Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdullah bin Faisal bin Jabur Al-Doseri, took part in the meetings of the 155th regular session of the Arab League at the ministerial level.

In his speech, the Assistant Foreign Minister stressed that this meeting is held under difficult and complex Arab and regional situations, and multiple regional and international challenges, which require a unified position, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation to defend our national security and safeguard the interests of our people.

The Assistant Foreign Minister affirmed that foreign interference in the internal affairs of Arab countries constitutes a flagrant violation of the national sovereignty of a number of brotherly Arab countries, constitutes a threat to Arab national security, and contradicts international laws and covenants. He added that this interference is a source of great concern to the Arab peoples, and a bitter reality that states are experiencing in light of the international community’s disregard for threats to regional security and peace, which requires us to unite our common efforts and positions, and to work collectively to stop all interference in the internal affairs of our Arab countries, and to preserve their sovereignty, dignity and legitimate right to protect their societies and national interests.

He also affirmed that terrorism and its extremist organizations represent a serious threat to the security and stability of Arab countries, as their terrorist acts undermine security and stability of the Arab societies, in addition to promoting ideas of extremism, exaggeration and intolerance, in contradiction to the principles of our true Islamic religion and our Arab values that call for tolerance, coexistence and acceptance of on another.

the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs referred to the economic, social and health implications of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, and its severe effects on the sustainable development of Arab countries and on the daily life of Arab citizen. He noted that it is imperative for us all to work together and intensify efforts to promote cooperation and coordination to mitigate the effects of this emergency pandemic, which imposed on the countries of the world to develop exceptional contingency plans to confront it, and prepare for the recovery phase.

He emphasized that the vital issues listed on the agenda of the League Council require from us a unified position and constructive decisions that promote our joint Arab action and underline the solidarity of our countries and their determination to make all efforts to protect Arab national security and safeguard our interests.

To conclude his speech, the Assistant Foreign Minister expressed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s support for the reappointment of Mr. Ahmed Abol Gheit as Secretary General of the Arab League for a second term, wishing him further success.
