7th meeting of Bahraini-Omani Joint Ministerial Committee held


The seventh meeting of the Bahraini-Omani Joint Ministerial Committee was held today under the chairmanship of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the brotherly Sultanate of Oman, His Excellency Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud Al Busaidi.

The meeting was attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, His Excellency Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Sultanate of Oman, His Excellency Dr. Juma bin Ahmed Al-Kaabi, the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and the Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Kingdom of Bahrain, His Excellency Ambassador Abdullah bin Rashid bin Ali Al-Mudailwi, the Executive Director of the Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa Academy for Diplomatic Studies, Ambassador Dr. Shaikha Muneera bint Khalifa Al Khalifa, and a number of senior officials from both sides.

His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs delivered a speech in which he highlighted the strong historic relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Sultanate of Oman which continue to develop under the support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said.

He welcomed the convening of the work of the Bahraini-Omani Joint Committee in its seventh session to enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields, expressing his hope that the joint committee will undertake the task of implementing the agreements and memoranda of understanding that have been signed with the aim of serving both countries and people.

Dr. Al-Zayani also expressed thanks and appreciation to all senior officials from both sides which contribute to the development of relations between the two countries.


The Omani Minister of Foreign Affairs praised the deep-rooted brotherly ties between the two countries, affirming his keenness to work as part of the committee to further develop all fields of bilateral cooperation.


The two sides discussed prospects for enhancing joint coordination between the two countries in a number of areas and exchanged view points on the latest regional and international developments. They also agreed to hold the eighth meeting of the committee in the Sultanate of Oman in 2022.


At the end of the meeting, the two ministers signed three memoranda of understanding including one between the Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa Academy for Diplomatic Studies at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Diplomatic Institute at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman in the field of diplomatic studies, research and training, a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the fields of electricity and renewable energy between the government of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Government of the Sultanate of Oman, and a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Consumer Protection Authority in the Sultanate of Oman in the field of consumer protection.
