Her Excellency Leslia Miller-Brice, Ambassador of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas to the Republic of Barbados, presented Letters of Credence to Her Excellency the Most Honourable Dame Sandra Prunella Mason, President of Barbados, on Tuesday, 11th October, 2022, at the State House of Barbados.
President Mason wished Ambassador Miller-Brice success in the performance of her duties and offered advice and guidance on how emerging women leaders might be powerful agents of change whilst serving in leadership positions. Furthermore, President Mason stated that women should be more active within the political arena and expressed that she looked forward to Ambassador Miller-Brice forging stronger partnerships within CARICOM to foster greater regional integration.
In her remarks, Ambassador Miller-Brice stated that the relationship between The Bahamas and Barbados was one centred on trust, mutual respect and shared democratic principles and values. She also highlighted that this relationship has been reinforced through our collective political action on the world stage and our quest for economic fairness from large developed countries and international financial institutions.
In relation to matters of solidarity, Amb. Miller-Brice noted that The Bahamas looked forward to working with Barbados on matters related to Climate Change, Slavery Reparations, and the revamping of the global financial system, in an effort to provide parity with other nations.
